Senderismo y Estrellas is one of our unique experiences in experiential tourism: a hike along quiet trails in Tausa and Pacho timed to the new moon phase, when the darkness of the páramo reveals thousands of stars to the naked eye. It is a themed plan, quite different from a conventional day hike, and a favorite pick for weekend experiences and adventure experiences Colombia travelers are looking for.
During the night hike, expert guides point out constellations, planets and other astronomical phenomena, while an astronomy guide sets up professional telescopes to view lunar craters, planetary rings and galaxies. Low light pollution in the area allows for dark skies that are unusual so close to Bogotá, ideal for astrophotography.
The base plan runs there and back the same night from Bogotá, and can optionally be extended with one night of rural lodging and breakfast, for travelers who want to stretch this romantic experience into a fuller weekend getaway rooted in sustainable nature tourism.
